"In the days to come, the Acting Managing Director, Prof. Nelson Braimbraifa, will graciously begin the commissioning of completed projects. To get a contractor paid, there are things that you require. The jobs need to be properly verified and certified. We went through the entire process of verification and we revalidated the old certificates we met on ground to ensure that they are good enough for payment. But we also realized that we have a chunk of very small payments which were still outstanding. This is where you find the youths who have done small jobs like supplies, petty contracts here and there and yet they were not paid.
As a way of tackling that problem, we thought it was necessary to clear those backlog which was why we introduced the policy of graduating outstanding payments from N10 million and below, N20 million and below and N30 million and below until we are able to clear what is outstanding."
