The passing of Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media has been announced by the Rivers State Government. This one is a personal blow to me.

Simeon Nwakaudu and I spoke last on my birthday, when his call woke me in the early hours of the day. He called to wish me a happy birthday but not without throwing the needful banters. We laughed cheerfully and I thanked him for his gracious generosity in reaching out. Since my exit from Government we had kept a respectable distance although our mutual respect for each other was as always very in tact.
Simeon was completely sold out to Gov. Wike. He was extremely loyal and doggedly committed to his Principal's cause. As colleagues we shared almost every single day together. He was frank. He was brutally frank.
I fondly called him Dede and I meant it in a respectable way. He was a workaholic and was firmly in charge of his work systems like a real Dede. Of course, we did not have to agree all the time. But one was free to argue with him and vehemently too, either with or without a resolution, without creating a baggage of lingering animosity. He was a big brother.
I sympathise with his immediate family for losing a father and husband that sacrificed ALL for their best interest. I condole his Principal, the Governor of Rivers State, who has lost a staff, nay an Ally, who was a classic definition of a loyal person.
I have lost a friend, an exceptionally talented former colleague and big brother.
So long, Dede. This was not the plan.
